$14,100.00 iPod Nano

I was searching Ebay for some items and I ran across this auction for a new in box 8GB iPod Nano (chromatic). The price is currently at a whopping $14,100.00 dollars. This is just insane, the auction has to be rigged. I don’t see any other explanation. Check out the screen shot below.

Comments Disappearing?

Dear readers,

I am aware of the comment forms disappearing in the most reason posts.  For some reason this only happens to freshly posted articles.  I am working on getting the bugs ironed out. I am pretty certain the culprit is DOMtabs (the tab menu to the right). I will post an update when it’s all worked out.

FastMac Customer Service and Turnaround Speed

Green is good! Dead batteries are no good!

“Green is good! Dead batteries are no good!”

I recently had a faulty MacBook Pro battery replaced by FastMac. I thought I would share my experience with you all. Was it good or was it bad? First let me tell you the situation. On October 1st 2008 I ordered a brand new replacement battery for my 15” MacBook Pro. I ordered one of the fast mac TruePower batteries. The batteries claim to have 68% more capacity than the “other” brand of Apple batteries. You can find out if it’s true by looking at a couple reviews here and here. From the short time that I used the battery it seemed to perform well. I cannot comment on the longevity of the battery though, as mine became inoperable after a few weeks of use. Why did my battery suddenly die? The battery died due to my own idiocity. I took the battery out of my MacBook Pro when the charge on the battery was at 10%. I left the battery sit on my desk for about 2 weeks without charging it, so the charge in the battery slowly depleted. After this, the battery would no longer charge. Whoops!

On October 14th I contacted FastMac about the situation. I explained what happened and that the battery was completely dead. I received a reply within the hour! They asked for the serial number, cycle count, charge capacity, and some other general information from the System Profiler. I also had to provide my order number. I submitted my reply and I received a follow up within 20 minutes (or less) of sending my reply. The customer service rep told me that had a couple options, they were out of stock of this particular model of battery. He told me I could send the battery in and they would exchange it free of charge when the new shipment arrived, or if I was in a hurry they could ship me an Apple branded battery if I put a 100 dollar deposit that would be refunded when they received the old battery. I opted to send the old battery in and just wait. My luck, the new shipment arrived before my package reached FastMac! So it was immediate turnaround. I got my new battery in 3 days after sending my dead one in.

FastMac’s customer service is great, they are very fast, super nice, and easy to talk to. They actually listen to your issues and try to help you resolve them to the best of their abilities. I am really happy with the exchange. I would recommend FastMac to anyone that was hesitant about purchasing from them. The products are great, the customer service is great, and their prices are great too! I get 4 and a half - 5 hours of battery life on this new battery.

FastMac Service gets a rating of 5 stars.

SUV Towes a Tow Truck

This is just too good not to post. Apparently this Shanghainese woman doesn’t want her Chevy SUV to be towed by the tow man. I don’t know the whole story, or why she is being towed, it’s hilarious none the less. Hooray for front wheel drive vehicles I suppose. Check the video below. I’m sure it’ll make you chuckle.

Get Rid of Marker Felt in Notes

Let me be quite frank here. The Marker Felt font is an eyesore, just like its cousin Comic Sans. Apple has chosen to use Marker Felt for the Notes application, both in OS X and on the iPhone / Touch. While I understand the initial intent of using the font for the Notes application, they would like to make it appear more hand written like an actual note. Whilst this is a nice gesture, I often times find it rather annoying. I would like to be able to change the fonts to fit my liking. I am sure there are other people out there that feel the same way. I don’t feel like jailbreaking my device either. So what’s a guy to do?

Simple, turn on the international keyboard. I found this little feature that could possibly be a little bug in the Notes application. What does this all mean? Let me walk you through it.

This is what Marker Felt looks like in the Notes application.
